KNIGHTON ROTARY CLUB SUPPORTS BLOOD BIKES WALES
AND MID POWYS MIND
On Friday July 29th, 2022, representatives of Blood Bikes Wales and Mid Powys MIND found their way to the Knighton Community Centre to receive donations from the Knighton and District Rotary Club. As current Rotary President Kim Smith said “We are proud to support these excellent charities, amongst many others, that offer their services to the community” He then presented Jenny Engelfield of the Llandrindod Wells based Mid Powys MIND with a cheque for £500. Jenny said, “This money will go a long way to help those with mental health conditions in Mid Wales and Powys” She added “As a Mental Health Charity we aim to improve the mental wellbeing for people in our community by providing information and support for those with mental health needs, their families and friends”.
As well as the donation to Mid Powys MIND, Past President Margaret Thorp presented a cheque for £500 to volunteers from Blood Bikes Wales. Phil Evans, a Knighton based volunteer said, “This generous donation from the Knighton Rotary Club will help us to continue the work we do with the NHS, delivering blood samples, plasma and much more all over Wales.” Tony Walker, a Blood Bike rider from Wrexham added “Our charity is 100% volunteer led and is free of charge to the NHS. This donation will make a real difference to us”. You can find out more about the work of both charities, and the Knighton Rotary Club, on their websites.
