As the Rotary year finishes at the end of June, the annual Am-Am Golf competition at Dunblane New Golf Club in aid of Strathcarron Hospice is the last event in the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane calendar. After the cancellation last year, fingers were crossed for a better day of weather for this year's event. Despite a wet morning, the first team teed off at 7.30 and as the day progressed, the weather improved. Thanks to the efforts of the greens team, the course was in excellent condition. As usual, the catering and bar arrangements were much appreciated by the competitors and helpers as was the home baking provided by Golf Club ladies and Rotary members and partners.
Farmfoods were the main sponsor, for an amazing 13th year and the Hospice Support committee expressed their thanks to them and the other individuals and companies who provided sponsorship on the day.
Jim Gardner, chair of the committee, said 'despite a damp start, conditions improved and the 56 teams returned some excellent scores. Thanks to main sponsors, farmfoods, other sponsors, the teams and all who helped on the day, early calculations indicate over £12,000 has been raised for Strathcarron Hospice'.
