NEWPORT PAGNELL ROTARY CLUB
JOHN BUNYAN BOAT TRIP FRIDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER
This note is being sent to all who said they would like to join in this lunch time expedition on the John Bunyan. They are:
The start and finish of the charter will be at Priory Park Marina where there are free car parks. Simplest instructions are to turn south off the Goldington Rd (the old road to Cambridge ) at the traffic lights on to Newnham Avenue . Go south for about half a mile and take a left at the sign to Priory Park . This is Barkers Lane . The Marina is on the right and there is also car parking locally.
The John Bunyan is a well equipped narrow boat for education and leisure purposes. It has a maximum passenger capacity of 50-70 depending on the selected layout of chairs and fixed tables. It is fully insured and meets all safety standards of the waterways authorities. It is owned by the B&MK Waterways Trust and operated by Trust Volunteers who have all had the training appropriate to their particular role. It has wheelchair facilities and a toilet as well as a small galley for the sale of hot and cold drinks and snacks. It is not yet licensed for sale of alcohol. The boat has excellent all round vision. It has a regular mooring in the main basin nearest to the Premier Inn and Beefeater Restaurant which are easily identified.
Please be ready to embark about 15 minutes before departure at 11.00am . The boat leaves on time.
The charter is planned to go upstream through the Town Lock and the Embankment Basin continuing through the town and under the two railway bridges to Kempston Mill near the point where the new cut will join the Ouse. It will return to the Marina by 2.00pm . We hope to have maps to show where you are as we move through the town and perhaps even a live comment from time to time from those who know.
A light buffet lunch (included in the price) will be taken en route. Hot and cold drinks, as well as snacks, will be available to purchase at the galley on board. If you wish you may bring your own tipple and glasses. Corkage is under negotiation!
This event is partly sponsored and will make a donation from the profits to the Waterways project. The cost is
