Our December Activities

Christmas Trees for Schools, 2020 and Bury Avenue Gardens Benches

Newport Pagnell Rotary

Christmas has come …..and gone?

2020 may have been a different year for all of us but for our children and grandchildren it must have felt particularly strange. So to bring back some sort of normality to the festive season, our Club did what it always does. It brought Father Christmas and his assistant along to many of our local primary schools bearing a Christmas tree for the school to decorate. At last the children could start getting excited about the approaching festivities. We visited many schools in North Crawley, Olney, Old Wolverton and  Newport Pagnell.

As well as delivering Christmas trees, the Club was also busy helping to improve the environment in Newport Pagnell. If you take a walk through Bury Avenue Gardens, just off the High Street, you will see a transformation. The six benches there were in a very bad state of repair but now they are as good as new. All the old wooden slats have been replaced and the benches have been repainted. After gaining permission from Newport Town and Milton Keynes District Councils, a dedicated team of Rotarians got to work and the result is for all to see. Please go and have a look and sit on them as they are there to be used.

We have also been carrying on selling your donations of unwanted items on the internet. We have sold over 50 different lots so far and all the proceeds will go to Rotary approved charities so keep donating!

Can we take this opportunity to wish everybody a happy and prosperous new year. Let us hope that 2021 is an improvement on 2020.
