Christina is a professional midwife qualified to Masters level at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi, who won a Rotary Scholarship to study further at Stirling University and has been sponsored by the Bridge of Allan and Dunblane Club since the summer of last year.
Christina gave some background to her working life in Malawi where she was part of a team dealing with 50,000 outpatients, 28,000 admissions and 10,000 deliveries each year, her Masters degree is in Maternity and Neo Natal Health.
Christina told the Club how at the age of 13 she had a dream of travelling to the UK and that this year had made her dream come true and was part of her lifelong commitment to making a difference.
She explained that on her return to Malawi she would be part of a teaching team and that she would use her evidence based study to improve the presentation of post-natal maternal sepsis which she anticipated to make a substantial difference.
As she closed her presentation she thanked the Club for its support, also many of the Club Members who have welcomed her to Scotland.
After a lively question and answer session, Mary Fraser proposed a vote of thanks for an interesting an informative talk.
