Rotary Diary Item - Journal and Gazette Friday 15th August 14
On Thursday 7th August, President Charles Fletcher chaired a meeting of the Rotary Cub of South Queensferry in the Hawes Inn. He welcomed guests from the Rotary Club of Edinburgh Braids and Honorary Member Alex Laughlan. There followed an evening of fellowship when members could socialise and discuss future projects on an informal basis. FERRY FAIR
Volunteers from the Rotary Club of South Queensferry again acted as stewards during the annual Crowning Procession of the Ferry Fair Queen on Saturday 9th August. Despite poor weather, the event attracted many enthusiastic spectators.
LEN MARTIN
It is with great sadness that we must mark the recent sudden death of Len Martin, a former and much respected member of the club. Len took part in many club events and was closely involved in the introduction of the Forth Bridge Abseil. He moved to Perth and continued his involvement with Rotary there. Len, who loved the mountains, died in Glencoe while planning a walk for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. Our thoughts are with Alison and the family.
