Young Musician and Young Vocalist Competition 2015

Young Musician  and Young Vocalist Competition 2015

Youngsters bring musical magic to Dalmeny.
The historic beauty of Dalmeny Kirk formed a splendid backdrop to the local heat of the annual Rotary Young Musician and Young Vocalist of the Year Competition on Wednesday 4th February. Judges had a difficult task choosing which of the ten highly talented competitors should take the winner's trophy in each section. Grace Stroud (cornet) won the instrumental category followed by runner up Holly James (viola). Lewis Moore won the Young Vocalist category with runner up Caty Kerr. Both Grace and Lewis will go on to the final at Heriot Watt University on 18th February. Organiser Eric Proven said: 'We could not have wished for a more delightful evening. The quality of singing and musicianship is a great credit to the competitors and the music department of Queensferry High School, and Dalmeny Kirk was the perfect setting.'
The long-standing competition recognises the talent of young musicians across the Rotary District. We wish Grace and Lewis success in the final.
