B & F Meeting 6th. October 2015

Summary of meeting 06/10/2015


1. 15 members present and chaired by President Mike Parry. 2. President advised that Rotary Christmas cards are now available for ordering at £4 per pack. Unfortunately they are not bi-lingual. 3. Treasurer John reported as follows: General account £2953.72 Charities account £1648.38 Premium account £2774.54 The collection at Sainsbury’s for local charities on 3.10.15 raised £274.35 4. Secretary – nothing to report 5. Membership – Andrew circulated notes from the District meeting the week before and summarised a number of points as follows • District membership stagnant – satellite clubs contributed 100 new members, existing clubs lost 100 members. • Andrew offered transport for 8 members to visit a satellite club. • To look at our programme to ensure we offer interesting things to do, visit, be part of etc. • Actively look at a satellite club next door at the hospital. • 10% of any collections to go to Foundation. • Trial run of 6 months of disbanded Club Council. 6. Community - Hari reported on the email received from St Asaph club re Rhyl Junior AFC and he is following up. 7. International - John reported on the email enquiry form Ysgol Mair to look at an International project. It was felt this maybe an opportunity for a Rotakids club. John & Howard to follow up. Gordon to provide information on a project in South Africa. 8. Vocational – Gareth thanked Geraint for attending the presentation at Llandrillo. A committee meeting being arranged shorty. Probable trip to a micro-brewery at the end of October and a wine tasting evening in 2016. 9. Youth Service – Gareth – meeting to be called soon, Enquiry from Blessed Edward Jones received on 7.10.15 to support mock interviews on 20th October has been passed on. 10. Programme – Keith reported on development and it was agreed that the meeting on the 20th October would be cancelled to allow members to attend District Council AGM in Wrexham. In addition that we should continue with weekly meetings in fairness to the hotel. When there is a 5th Tuesday in the month an Open Meeting will be held and ‘special’ speaker invited. Many expressed their views on the exceptional quality of some of the speakers that we have had and thanks given to Keith. In addition the 1st Tuesday of each month will be a Business & Fellowship meeting with soup, sandwiches and coffee and no Club Councils for a trial period of 6 months. 11. Bulletin – President Mike apologised for not including our recent success at the District Quiz and the change of venue on the 26th October for the joint meeting with Prestatyn at the beeches Hotel for a Scaletrix night – no meeting on the 27th at Faenol Fawr. 12. Web site – Gordon advised that Dropbox is to be the means of communication within District in the near future. 13. No reports on Foundation or Social events. 14. AOB: • David Davies reported on the golf that RGC were not very cooperative however the door is being kept open and Les is in discussion with Abergele club. • Murder in the Cathedral – next committee meeting is on 27th October and tickets will be sold via Gareth WJ for our club. John reported that everything is well in hand and a number of avenues for publicity are being used.
