The winter concert in Queen Victoria School for older members of the community was held on 27 November.
The concert has now become a regular feature of the Rotary Club’s involvement with senior citizens. Rotary members collect the audience from residential homes and private houses in Bridge of Allan and Dunblane. When the guests arrive at Queen Victoria School, they are greeted by pipers from the school, and escorted to the theatre by pupils in full dress uniform. The musical entertainment is provided by the Skelpit Lug Band, with lively renditions of jigs, marches, polkas and vocal numbers, accompanied by lively handclapping. Fortified in the interval by tea, coffee and biscuits served by the pupils, the second half of the programme is largely provided by the pipers and dancers of the school. Finally, the evening is rounded off by a raffle of prizes provided by the school’s staff. From comments by those attending, the evening was very much appreciated, particularly by those who only rarely have opportunities for getting out in the evening.
