The Club will have a stand at the show

DOUNE AND DUNBLANE SHOW

In another busy weekend, the Club was present at the Doune and Dunblane Show on Saturday 2 July.

Despite interruptions by heavy showers, the Show succeeded in attracting visitors who were entertained by a variety of competitions, sideshows and other attractions.  As a new addition to its stand, the Bridge of Allan and Dunblane Rotary ran a “Nail in the Bale” competition where visitors were encouraged to buy a nail (or nails) stuck into straw bales.  Those drawing out a nail with a given number received a prize.  All good fun, with cries of delight when the right numbers appeared.  Tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks were also on offer, particularly well received when the weather turned unkind.  Adding to a very successful day, during which the Club raised a substantial sum for Rotary charities, it was awarded the trophy for the most attractive stand at the Show run by a charity.

The next big outing for the Club will be to the Bridge of Allan Highland Games on 7th August, when the Club’s famous crepes will again be on sale.

On Thursday 7th July there will be a meeting of the Club at the Westlands Hotel, Doune Road, at 6.00 for 6-30pm. This will be the occasion when President Mary Fraser hands over the Presidency of the Club to Nick Rawlings. Visitors are always very welcome.  Anyone interested in attending should contact the Club Secretary, Iain Fraser at secretary@dunblanerotary.org.  Tel: 01786 822751.  More information can be found on the Club website: www.dunblanerotary.org.uk or the Facebook site: www.facebook.com/dunblanerotary.
