Another joint venture with neighbouring club St Asaph that could again benefit two prominent local charities is being planned, Rhyl President Keith Roberts informed members at a general meeting at Faenol Fawr. Officials of the two clubs are already in detailed discussions over a proposed young persons’ concert to showcase local musical talent, at St Asaph Cathedral with the proceeds earmarked for sharing between St Kentigern Hospice and Ty Gobaith. President Keith reminded members of the highly successful collaborative venture a couple of years ago in which Rhyl were involved with several other Vale of Clwyd Rotary clubs, for an acclaimed performance of “Murder in the Cathedral” staged at the Cathedral. He said further details would be made known later and he looked forward to members offering their full support. In addition, he was currently monitoring a number of promising events and projects in which the Rhyl club could become involved. These included current talks with Asda superstore management about expanding ties following last week’s fund-raising collection at Kinmel Bay, and he was particularly looking into two attractive potential opportunities for increasing the club’s charitable funds. The evening concluded with a joint presentation by past President Mike Howarth and secretary Gordon Marshall aimed at simplifying the understanding and utilisation of DMS – Digital Management System. They demonstrated on screen the simplest ways that members could access the full range of basic information and data available about their own club, District 1180 and the wider Rotary movement. Warmth thanks and appreciation for their most enlightening contributions were expressed to both by President Keith, who announced that the next full meeting of the club would take place at Faenol Fawr on August 22.
