Restart a Heart Day

How to Restart a Heart held at South Axholme School

On the 16th of October Rotarian John Lambert and President Julie Ellis joined members of the ambulance and fire service along with First Responders to assist at South Axholme Academy in the ‘Restart a Heart Day’.

138 schools across Yorkshire have signed up to provide their pupils with life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.  25,000 children across Yorkshire will be taking part in the world’s largest event of its kind.

Today, if you suffer a cardiac arrest out of hospital in the UK, you have less than a 1 in 10 chance of surviving. In places such as Norway, where CPR is more widely taught, it is as high as 4 in 10.

We had a very interesting and worthwhile morning (and got bacon butties at break too!)
