He felt strongly that the North was neglected when it came to use of public funds, only getting modest amounts to provide up-dated carriages for the Metro and being unable to extend the line from Sunderland to Washington etc.
He encouraged a lively debate, but this did not all go his way!!
Nevertheless, an enjoyable meeting was had.
Before the talk, Gordon Coxon had been presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award, much to his surprise, for his work within the club over the last 20 years.

Each year a new card is painted by Rotarian Randle Oliver. These are sold to friends as well as other Rotary club members to raise funds for Rotary Foundation and other charities, including our own Benevolent Fund.more
