Inspiring evening

Defeating Cancer

Nonsuch Rotary President Denise Rush presents Professor Paul Workman with a cheque for the Institute of Cancer Research after an enthralling informative talk given by the distinguished Scientist to members and guests on 24 October 2018.

Professor Workaman is President and Chief Excutive of the Institute which is based at the Royal Marsden Hospital. The subject of his talk "Research at the Institute - Understanding and Defeating Cancer" affects almost everyone.

It was a privilege for the large audience to hear first hand a recognised expert in Cancer Research explain in a down to earth manner what Cancer is and the very encouraging progress that is being made in diagnostics and treatment. The impressive number of new Cancer drugs discovered and imaging processes developed by ICR so near to home in Sutton is something that we can be proud of.

Professor Workman came across as a sincere man, dedicated to his work, who made a real effort to help our lay audience understand Cancer better.

The Professor and his skilled team are clearly the "Jewel in the Crown" of Cancer Research and treatment.
