WW1 trench experience at Garth Hill School

Since October 2018 teams of willing volunteers from our club undertook various tasks in constructing the trench system, the work supervised by Cliff Manderville, Site manager is now almost complete. Before the ribbon cutting we had a talk from College Principle Mr Keith Granger who praised the various groups who helped with the project, Rotary, Parents, Children of the 1914 committee to name a few. Our James who co-ordinated the Rotary help said a few words before John Binney Club President presented Mr Granger with a three volume set of books about Bracknell men who fought in WW1.

Also invited to attend were Isobel Mattick, Major of Bracknell Town Council and Councillor Ash Merry, Deputy Major of Bracknell Forest Council. We finally visited the trench system where Deputy Major Ash Merry cut the red ribbon surrounded by pupils of the 1914 WW1 committee. Club members then had a tour of the trenches.
