This month we were proud to present £15,000, the proceeds of our South Downs Way Challenge, to the QE2 Activity Centre Centre based in Manor Farm. The Centre is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) which provides activity opportunities for people with additional needs in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life.
The phenomenal sum was raised through generous sponsorship of our walk in May. Four of us walked the whole of the South Downs Way, a distance of 100 miles, in 8 days. Other club and family members joined us for some sections of the route and between us we walked 550 miles. the funds we raised helped fund a fully accesible, custom-built river vessel that will allow young people with disabilities to develop boating skills on the River Hamble.
