On Thursday 9th September, President Derek Clark welcomed members and guests to the virtual meeting of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry. The speaker was Pam Ribbeck, Community Officer from the charity Playlist For Life. Founded by writer and broadcaster Sally Magnusson in 2013 after the death of her mother who suffered from dementia, the charity is based in Glasgow and seeks to reconnect those living with dementia with their memories through the medium of music which has been significant in their lives. Pam talked about how important music is to the soundtrack of people's lives. Playlist For Life is involved with raising awareness, working with community networks and training healthcare professionals . Doctors and care workers recognise that playing music can stimulate a dementia sufferer and help families talk to them about their memories whether at home or in a care home. Playing familiar music also helps to relieve stress and improve wellbeing.

In other business, Honorary Member Graham Leith and his wife Linda announced the arrival of a grandchild Angus John Leith. President Derek offered warm congratulations from the club.

It was also announced that the president and members of Rotary Runaway Bay in Australia had toasted the Rotary Club of South Queensferry at their meeting on 5th September. They toast an International Rotary Club every month and selected the Queensferry club as a member had met Gordon and Heather McInally on many occasions.
