Raffle: Eric Proven,
Reception: VP Sandy MacKenzie/President Derek Clark,
Zoom Meeting

Thursday 23rd September saw District Governor Ken Robertson pay a virtual visit to the Rotary Club of South Queensferry. Ken is a member of the Cumbernauld club and DG of Rotary District 1020. President Derek Clark welcomed Ken and Sandy Mackenzie introduced him. The theme of Ken's talk was 'My Rotary Smile'.

S was for Service.

Ken mentioned the club's donations to End Polio Now, ShelterBox, AquaBox and our commitment to the charity Hope and Homes for Children. In the days lying ahead as clubs regain some normality, he suggested a focus on empowering girls and cited examples of clubs working together on service projects.

M was for Members.

Ken mentioned the 'We Are Rotary' theme and emphasised that members should feel valued as individuals and involved in club activities. The RIBI President's initiative of 'Each one Bring One' may raise global membership.

I was for Inclusion.

Rotary is open to everyone. There is a diversity and dignity policy.

L was for Leadership.

Ken's message was that we are all leaders and should lend support to our teams.

Ken also mentioned that over the duration of the pandemic, clubs had to change. He thought the Queensferry club's Burns Supper on Zoom was an excellent example and congratulated the club on engaging in significant community projects when unable to carry out its normal programme. He wished President Derek and the club members good luck for Rotary year 2021-22.

In other business, thanks go to President Derek Clark, Matt Purdie and Craig MacKenzie for sponsoring the opening evening of the refurbished garden at The Haven hosted by Gillian, Liz and Lorna.

Immediate Past President Irene Brownless thanked everyone who took part in the recent QCCC (Queensferry Churches Care in the Community) Golf Day at Dundas Golf Club.
