Inner Bay Brewery

Guest speaker was Kate Russell

Remarkable beer, made with passion.

When Kate Russell’s family came along the biology teacher looked for something that she could work on from home. She told the Club's meeting that she 'stole'her engineer husband’s hobby.

Initially brewing to order, Kate and her husband founded the Inner Bay Brewery company in 2014. The artisanal, family run brewery is based in Inverkeithing and proudly uses traditional ingredients and methods. All of their beers are produced in small batches ensuring the highest quality and flavour experience.

Starting with three beers, Inner Bay developed their own range of quality beers that are characterised by soft flavours and a well rounded finish. Kate described Inner Bay as a one British barrel brewery (160 litres / 36 gallons) whereas microbreweries will be ten times larger.

The New Zealander who came to Scotland for a year, is now 22 years later, responsible for ten different varieties of beer. Raspberry and citrus fruits are used to offer beer with a difference and Kate’s Lockdown beer is aged in port barrel that has then been used for maturing Speyside whisky.

Kate brews, bottles, labels, cleans and declares proudly that her well sanitised fingers are all over the products.  The uncertainty of the proposed deposit return scheme is currently preventing online sales but the Inner Bay Brewery beers are available from the Caledonian Craft Beer Merchant in the Maygate, Juniper Wine Store in New Row, from the Sutlery in Charlestown and on draught at Bruce Arms in Limekilns.
