On Thursday 1st September, President Sandy Mackenzie welcomed everyone to the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry. Guests included Ashutosh and Seema Singhal from Noida, India, Jim Gostick from the Belvoir Club in Nottingham and Jayne Burrell from Australia, a friend of Rotarian Helen Tulloch.

The speaker was District Governor Duncan Collinson who attended with his wife Jill. Duncan spoke on this year's Rotary theme : Imagine Rotary. He listed some of the achievements of the South Queensferry Club over the last few years. He also explained how Districts 1020 and 5050 had joined forces to obtain a Foundation grant to help buy a fire engine which has now been delivered to Ukraine. Another grant is supporting two family units in Ukraine. Duncan promoted the District Conference in Peebles, which will be the last for District 1020 as we will enter a new district soon.

Ashutosh told us about his club which has 110 members. Their chief involvement is supporting educational and medical needs. He presented President Sandy and DG Duncan with Rotary pins bearing the Indian flag. Jim Gostick from Nottingham is on holiday staying with family. He said the Belvoir Club recently raised £10,000 for Polio Plus by doing a relay walk.

In other business, President Sandy announced that the Rotary South Queensferry & QCCC Charity Golf Day will be held at Dundas Parks Golf Club on Monday 19th September.
