Jim is ‘new’ to our Club as he joined us when Mother Club closed and a Rotarian of a number of years (he joined Rotary in 1984 and was President twice)  Born in Sleaford in 1937, he struggled with his health, eventually being diagnosed with Coeliac Disease when 4 years old.  However, he progressed through school and went into RAF for 2 years National Service trained as a radar operator and did lots of sport. His first job was as a trainee to the County Surveyor at Kesteven CC where he spent 1year working on the A1 Grantham By - Pass. He moved on to Nottinghamshire CC working on highways design, construction and maintenance, moving on to highway planning and economic development.

He then became head of Waste Management managing the disposal of all waste collected across 8 DC’s, progressing to MD of Waste Notts Ltd when it was privatised He retired when that company was sold to Yorkshire water, but carried on with consultancy work for a further 10 years.
