Theresa expalined  that she had been a governor on the Wyggestons estates committee since 2016.

The Wyggeston estate  is made up of approximately 5000 acres of agricultural land in the Leicestershire and Warwickshire area. It was originally tenanted in the 1500s. and  now includes, farms, residential properties, commercial properties, a hotel, pubs, allotments, woods and a motorway service area.

Andrew further explained that the estate receives around £800,000 pa rental income. As the estate's land manager he spends his time talking with farmers who often lead a solitary life, so they need to talk and Andrew learns a lot of what is going on from them.

He visits each farm twice a year but he often has to visit more times than this if there are practical issues to be resolved. Andrew insists that trust is important between landlord and tenant and Wyggeston’s is known for their good relations.

A lot of recent problems have been caused by BREXIT, COVID and fuel prices rising. Whilst we were in the EU farmers benefitted from the Common Agricultural Policy. That has now gone and Andrew anticipates a lot of changes in the coming months.
