Makeover of the overgrown area of ground adjacent to the Rosebery Hall Community Centre

The environmental team have agreed to undertake a makeover of the overgrown area of ground adjacent to the side entrance to the Rosebery Hall Community Centre which of course is a very well used asset in the community. Any work of this nature has to be organised and funded by the Rosebery Halls Management Committee not the City of Edinburgh Council(CEC) who own the building so they  are most grateful of any voluntary  help to reduce the costs of this type of undertaking.

The initial phase of work is to clear the site of unsightly shrubs and small trees that have self seeded. This was a signifiant challenge as many were many years old and very deep rooted. We benefited from the support of guys from the CEC Parks and Green Space team who helped greatly with this task to clear the site.

Come the spring 2023 we will lay a weed retardent membrane, plant some shade tolerance easy maintained shrubs and lay a covering of bark to brighten up the plot and create a welcome surround to the side entrance for folks entering the community centre and create a nicer aspect for the adjoining flat occupants. Thereafter the Greenferry Planting team will care for the plot as they do for the main Rosebery Halls  garden.
