Ross's Memorial Garden refurbished with the help of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry

Rotary South Queensferry were recently approached by Jude Moir, the relatively new Head Teacher of Echline Primary School, to seek support to renovate  Ross's Memorial Garden. This garden which forms an integral part of the school  was created over 30 years ago in memory of a young pupil at the school who had  tragically passed at a very early age. Over time and compounded by the COVID pandemic the garden has become very overgrown and unkempt. As always the Rotary Environmental team were up for the challenge to restore the gardens back to being a pleasant environment where the pupils can enjoy outside lessons (weather permitting) or just chill out.

So for the past 3 Friday afternoons the team has been working hard clearing weeds and overgrown shrubs and bushes which have been  consigned to a large skip. They have been supported by parents/ carers and grand parents too and best of all lots of the pupils who attend the after school club got stuck in. The pictures show the great progress being made.

Still a lot to do including power washing the slabs, repairing some wooden fearures and a renovation of the pond which has  protective grid on top to avoid unauthorised paddling sessions taking place!

With the help of funds raised by a parents group replanting the borders will take place soon as will vegetable growing sessions with expert input from our Greenferry friends  for the pupils at the forthcoming School Fun Day being held on the 3rd June.

This is a great environmental project not only involving Rotary but the wider community too.
