Rotary Am Am Golf Cheque to Strathcarron Hospice

President Ivor welcomed guests Irene McKee, chief executive of Strathcarron Hospice, Andrew Rettie, Captain of Dunblane New Golf Club and James Murray, son of past Member Ken Murray to tonights’ meeting.

Ivor then introduced the Clubs’ Hospice Support and Am Am convener, Les Fergusson who presented a cheque to the value £12,600 to Strathcarron Hospice, Les thanked everyone from the Club who helped him step into the organising the Am Am following the unexpected passing of Ken Murray who had organised the Am Am for several years.

Irene McKee thanked the Club for the ongoing support and gave a short update noting that this year was the first year that the hospice has a planned deficit following huge increases in payroll of over £1M over the last two years.  She gave news of the recent opening of the Carron View Wing which gives many benefits to the operation of the hospice and staff welfare.

Andrew Rettie looked forward to the Golf Club supporting the Am Am again next year with the complimentary use of the course and services.

Following a brief business meeting during which it was announced that the recent treasure hunt and meal had raised in excess of £100 which was being sent to a school project in Uganda, Hugh McCrea won the monthly whisky raffle with funds raised for Rotary Foundation President Ivor closed the meeting reminding the Club would be running a crepe stall at the Dunbane Centre Fun Day on Sunday.
