Home | Visit to Beacon Hill House Gardens Beamsley

Wed May 18th 2011
Away Visit: so no meeting at the Bradford Club.
Tim Ratcliffe organising - Pay Tim on the Night - £5 per person

The owners of the house Mr & Mrs D H Boyle were our hosts for the evening with proceeds going to the National Gardens Scheme. The garden is close to the Beamsley Beacon car park off the main Bolton Abbey to Harrogate road.

Fairly large garden, facing South and sheltered by woodland, on the slopes of Beamsley Beacon at 900ft above sea-level. An old fernery and big windbreak survive from original Victorian garden. Today, features of particular interest are snowdrops, early flowering rhododendrons in spring, and enormous climbing and rambling roses in July. Some unusual flowering trees and shrubs, several mixed borders, 2 ponds, which attract wildlife, small kitchen garden and cool greenhouse. But a picture is worth a thousand words so please check the photographs.

Having had a glass of wine and canapes at Beacon Hill House we then repaired to Tim & Judith's home where we were treated to tea or coffee and some of Judith's wonderful cakes.
