Charity Golf Day 19/6/2007

Once more Bishop Blaize smiled down on the efforts of the club. Despite severe thunderstorms the previous night the charity golf day took place without a drop of rain falling. In fact during the afternoon the sun came out and the greens went from slow to fast in the matter of a couple of hours. Owing to the previous nights heavy rains two holes (the 16th and 17th) were closed but a tightly fought contest saw the O’Hearne and Partners clear winners on 99 points. But behind them were a number of teams all on 94 points. After consulting the rule books the positions were finally sorted out as being Bassra Solicitors in second place whilst third place went to the Horwarth Clark Whitehill team.

Thanks to the hard work of the Rotarians together with the combined generosity of the sponsors and the participants the event raised £6,000 whilst providing a fun day for all. From this amount major donations went to the brain tumour charity Andrea’s Gift and the Eritrean medical charity Tigre Trust.
