Lunchtime Meeting - 12.45pm - Speaker - Ruth Carter/Ian Garland

Mon, Jul 1st 2013 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

John Powell's speakers today will be a double bill of Ruth Carter and Ian Garland of Kinokulture, Oswestry's independent cinema exhibition and film education organisation.

Instead of being behind the projector, Ruth Carter and Ian Garland from Kinoculture found themselves in front of our Rotary Club today to tell us all about their struggles to establish Kinoculture, a not for profit organisation based in the Guildhall, which aims to create and deliver access to film culture.

Starting in Llanfyllin, their journey has to date lead them to secure significant funding to provide a digital cinema in the Attfield Theatre in Oswestry which now plays to full houses and attracts mainstream films and live theatre and opera experiences - including 3D!

Ruth and Ian have brought a new dimension in entertainment to Oswestry, attracting top films to the Guildhall which gained Kinoculture an award from the Mayor at the Town Council Civic Dinner in March 2013.

Club members proved to be interested in Kinoculture with a lively question session drawing the pair out further for their plans for development in the future.
