Emma gave us a short but informative presentation, telling us something of the history of the Cheshire Homes established by Group Captain Leonard Cheshire in 1948.  Now known as Leonard Cheshire Disability (with the empahasis on Ability) she went on to describe the work of Bradbury House in Crook, where she is the Volunteer Coordinator.

In proposing a vote of thanks to Emma, Charles Elliot reminded us of a significant connection between our Club and Group Captain Leonard Cheshire:  Back in 1991, when one of our members - Philip Bouvier - was District 1030 Governor, the then Club President, Mike Miller presented Leonard Cheshire with a Paul Harris Fellowship at the District Conference.  This was in recognition of his "service above self" in support of the disabled.
