Visit by District Governor Dave Sadler

Thu, Oct 17th 2013 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

The DG visits every Club in the District during his year of office - we welcomed Dave to one of our regular lunch-time meetings.

DG Dave entertained us with some memories of his involvement with Rotary.  After telling us that one of his first visits to Durham was as a raw police cadet to the Aykley Heads Police headquarters - way back in 1967 - he went on to tell us that his first exposure to Rotary was in 1986 when he took part in a Group Study Exchange to Texas and his host there became one of his "Rotary Heroes".  Soon after that he joined the Saltburn Club and has never looked back, and he recounted some of his many "Rotary Moments".  David believes fervently in the power of Rotary to change lives and it is up to us all to make it happen, concluding his short talk by saying that the current year's "strapline" (see the logo above) could easily be reversed to read "Rotary Lives - Engage Change".
