Mike Clewes - example of a trial in the Magistrates Court

Wed, Jun 3rd 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Mike Clewes presented an example of a trial in the Magistrates Court ----- Speaker Finder Graham Robinson, Visitors Host Grace and Banners Pierre Richterich, Cash Desk John Barrow

Mike Clewes had written a fictional case study to show the workings of a trial in the Magistrates Court. Various members had roles to play during the trial - John Waterhouse as Defence Counsel, Alan Arthur as CPS, Tony Ashton in his old Police Constable role as well as the Defendant and Graham Robinson as the complainant. After the trial the audience was broken up into benches of 3 and had to come up with their verdict.

The end result was that a lot of people found the restrictions placed upon Magistrates quite frustrating but at least they had a better idea of how and why decisions are reached.
