Rtn Maurice Behren of Keighley Rotary Club spoke on product brands and advertising.---------------Speaker Finder David Burrows, Visitors Host Grace and Banners Robert Askew, Cash Desk Peter Meredith

Maurice trained as a horticulturalist which got him interested in plant names such as who was Cox of "Coxes Pippins". From here he started to write a book about gardening but it wasn't ready when a publisher wanted to go to print so he wrote one on Product Brands instead.

He has now done a total of 10 books and he took us through a very brief history of such products as Bertie Bassett created by George Bassett, Elastoplast from Thomas James Smith who formed the famous Smith & Nephew Company and PG Tips from Arthur Brooke’s company Brooke Bond.

Other brands mentioned were Robertson's Jam, Andrew's Liver Salts, Maxwell House and Birds Custard.
