Smiles of Hope & Happiness

A message from the children of African Adventures

It's always an absolute pleasure to provide some happiness at Christmas and our fabulous members did just that when they were approached by Rachel at African Adventures Foundation.

Rachel said, "Many of the children who attend our partner schools in Kenya live on or around the local dumpsite, in unimaginable conditions. School is a daily safe haven for them, and a place where they can learn, see their friends, and receive a meal – for many, the only food they have each day. Food is a pre-requisite for learning, so we provide every child who attends our partner schools with a cup of porridge each morning and a plate of cabbage and ugali each lunchtime.

Our Christmas Meal Appeal plays a very important role in our fundraising calendar each year. Christmas is a chance to give the children something to look forward to – a special meal and party for thousands of children at our partner schools in Ghana and Kenya. For children who have so little, this really does mean a lot.

With a special festive meal costing just 50p, a small donation can make a huge impact. Please will your club support our Christmas Meal Appeal with a donation of £150? This amount can feed an entire school of 300 children, bringing great joy."

How could we say No?

This was the joy our donation brought to the children supported by the African Adventures Foundation!

The message that we received from Rachel after the donation was heartwarming.

Happy New Year and a huge thank you from African Adventures Foundation!

"I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed seeing in the new year. We have now received a large number of pictures from our teams in Ghana and Kenya of the children enjoying their special meals at Christmas and I wanted to share some of these with you. We are so grateful for your support of our festive meal campaign and we hope you can see what this meant to our partner schools. You brought a lot of joy this Christmas! Not only were we able to provide thousands of special Christmas meals with your support, but the incredible response to our campaign means that we will be able to ensure food security for over a thousand children in the coming months. Thank you!

Thank you again for your support of our special charity and I look forward to working with many of you throughout this year. Thank you, Rachel."
