Social Prescribing

Faith Walkwell of the Claypath and University Medical Group talked to us about the role she plays as a Socoal Prescriber  - all GPs surgeries now have one and they provide non-medical support to patients. This basically means social, economic, practical help which covers a wide variety  - housing, debt PTSD,mental health, employment all of which and more, helps to reduce the burden on healthcare providers e.g. the Claypath practice alone makes 60 referrals per month.

Our thanks to Faith for a comprehensive look at this very necessary and useful service.
