Winston Michael - Big Cat Sanctuary - Charity Night

Sat, Feb 2nd 2019 at 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

To book tickets email me and forward cheques payable to Winston Michael, to 12 Dexter Close, Kennington, Ashford, TN25 4QG.

On Saturday 2 February I am holding an event at the London Beach Hotel to raise money for the Big Cats Foundation, and invite you and Rotary friends to help the cause. As well as a 3-course meal there will be entertainment from one of the best Abba Tribute Bands Abba Chique - see attached poster. It will be a fun evening with great songs to bring a real party atmosphere to the evening. Tickets are limited to 100, and 40 were sold within 48 hours but I still have 60 to go.

I am passionate about conservation of wildlife and in particular Big Cats. Tigers are endangered and close to extinction, and if we are not careful Lions could become endangered. As humans encroach upon wild habitats with their livestock understandably it attracts Big Cats, with the consequence Cats are killed by villagers. The Big Cats Foundation in conjunction with local authorities embarked upon a programme of placing electronic collars on Big Cats in the wild. Giles Clark recently went to Kenya to see how the collared Cats are doing. They have all survived, with one having just given birth to two cubs. Without the collar this Lion might have been killed but here it was increasing the population by two.

The collars cost £1000 and are used by authorities to track where the Cat is located, and should it get close to a village, local people are alerted and the Cat is encouraged to move away and not harmed. I believe it very important for future generations to see Big Cats in their natural habitat and not solely in Zoos.

To book tickets email me at the link below and forward cheques payable to Winston Michael, to 12 Dexter Close, Kennington, Ashford, TN25 4QG.
