The new Interact Club of Towers School is now up and running. Steve Parkin presented theCertificate of Inauguration to the President, William Jones and presented badges to every member, of which there are 10 currently.
Organised by Mrs Lisa Pegg who, as well as being one of the teachers and running Interact, also is the main organiser for the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme at the school. Who said teachers have an easy time of it!!!
As well as William, the club has a Vice President, Holly Bell, a Secretary, Ellie Fewins-Orchard and a Treasurer, Finley Clark.
William outlined his vision for their major fundraiser, a Music Tribute Night, where the acts will bemainly taken from the staff and students at the school. There will be auditions organised by the members of Interact for acts such as Abba, Elvis, the Beatles and Tina Turner. It is planned that the event will be put on just before Christmas and raise lots of funds for their charities, MIND and Pilgrims Hospice, with some for the Performing Arts at the school.
They are also planning to create posters and a program and sell cakes, sweets and drinks at the event.
Other events they are planning include a sponsored silence, ‘pie in the face (of a teacher)’, litter picking, car washing, bingo and a football match (5 a side, boys and girls).
Next year they are hoping to put on a summer event, involving parents bringing caravans and tents and having a BBQ and games.
As a club linked to the Rotary Club of Ashford, we wish them all the best in their Rotaract, and subsequently, Rotary Life.

Comment: I am so thankful for everyone’s support and thankful for being elected president it is a true honour. We hope to work even harder with other groups and have meetings alongside them later this academic year.
