Clive Emson - I Do It My Way!

President Robin Taylor introduced our Speaker Clive Emson who is an auctioneer.

Clive began his Rotary journey with Hythe Rotary Club and most of the charitable work he has done has been as aresult of Rotary.

His first venture was a Homework Club and he was then asked to be “an independent visitor”. These visitors work with children on a one to one basis for a period of three years. He started the Young Lives Foundation 12 years ago. The Foundation provides appropriate adults for all the custody suites in Kent. They have over 200 volunteers and have won the Charity of the Year and Queens Charity Award.

On Thursday 7 th November Clive will be going to Buckingham Palace to receive an MBE from the Queen. President Robin presented Clive with one of our Club banners and a donation for his Charity.

Vice President Amanda Cottrell gave the vote of thanks.

Charity Concert success as 3 top musicians entertain an excited audience in Ashford's St Mary Church

We will move our meetings to The Ashford Holiday Inn North from 25th March.

Bryan Gipps, Director of Music, St Mary’s Church, Ashford, is presented with a cheque by Sue Brown from London Beach Hotel Tenterden, with Rotary President, Alan Jose. This donation will go towards the Church Organ Restoration Fund.

On Sunday 26th June we ran a Charity Cream Tea Party for around 100 people in aid of President Liz's chosen Charities -'Canine Helpers' and 'Kent MS Therapy Centre'. Thanks to all who helped make it a memorable afternoon.

The new Interact Club of Towers School is now up and running.

We were delighted on Monday night with a talk by 12 year old Lilia who explained the meanings of Ichimatsu Ningyo, Hina Ningyo, Daruma Ningyo, Kokeshi Ningyo and Gosho Ningyo; various forms of Japanese Doll.
