President Robin Taylor introduced our speaker Hayley Spooner from the Charity Making Miracles.
This Charity was founded in 2014 by Kelly Wells after the near loss of her daughter and deals withHayley herself has had two very prematurebabies and in between lost a baby. Over 85% of NHS Trusts do not provide bereavement counselling. Making Miracles provide six free sessions to families. Hayley told us that 20% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, 8% of babies are born prematurely, 1 in 216 babies are stillborn, 1in 370 will die in the first four weeks of life and 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss.
Making Miracles have a Memorial Garden in Rochester which is open to all families who experience baby loss at any time, including those who miscarry. Their children's book “The Baby” is aimed at children, yet the whole family can benefit from its messages.
They also have a Keepsake Collection which includes soft toys with a special section for memories or ashes of a lost baby.
PP Steve Parkin gave the vote of thanks.
