The Canterbury Forest of Blean Rotary Club organised a recent outing to the pantomime Cinderella at The Marlowe Theatre for 30 young carers supported by the charity Kent Young Carers, which provides care and support for children whose role caring for members of their family makes normal childhood activities impossible.
After enjoying the pantomime the children went backstage to meet Ben Roddy and Cara Dudgeon, who very generously gave their time between shows to answer questions and sign programmes. Rotary club members then escorted the young carers to PizzaHut to enjoy a meal.
Les Leslie, the President of the Rotary Club said “Our club is delighted to organise an annual visit to the pantomime for the young carers and regards it as one of the most worthwhile and important of the club’s charitable activities”.
Saffron Coade of Kent Young Carers said “All the young carers had such a good time and it was lovely to see them enjoying themselves. Thank you to all the Rotary members whom attended to chaperone us to PizzaHut. We are grateful for your ongoing funding and support and are delighted that you have been able to fund this wonderful trip next year too”!
