"Headteacher of Maidstone Grammar School for Girls until 2014 and have recently produced a book entitled "A Schoolgirl's War". This features the exquisite and highly original art work of a Kent art teacher during WW2. She set out to document in paint and pencil the lives of school children as the war unfolded. I don't think there is a similar collection of paintings anywhere. The book also includes the memories of "old girls" who were pupils during the war. They shared their fascinating memories and anecdotes with me - which included disrupted schooling, air-raids, doodlebugs, and underground lessons in shelters. "
