Old club information

It was at this years President's Evening at Bredbury Hall in Stockport, on 8 th May, that our President had the pleasure of awarding a Paul Harris Fellowship to Rtn. Derek Scott.  This was the third year running that the club has been able to award a club member with a Paul Harris on our President's Evening. Derek was a very surprised but also very delighted recipient and like all those before him, was a little stuck for words. Derek came to Glossop from the Newcastle area in the early 1980s where he had been a member of Round Table. On his arrival in Glossop, he transferred his membership to the Glossop club and was soon fully involved. He served as Chairman and Secretary as well as being involved with all other sections of the club. By the end of 1993 he had reached the age of 41 and was therefore too old for Round Table so, in January 1994 he became a member of the Glossop Rotary Club. Similar to his time in Table, he immediately became fully involved in the clubs activities.

He served as club secretary before becoming President in 1999 for the first time. He has since served on most of the committees and then again in 2006 for the second time, took on the roll of President. Apart from Rotary, Derek is also a member of the 41 club where he has also been President and Secretary.

I think it should also be said, that in his spare time he is a very devoted family man.

I therefore feel that the award of a Paul Harris fellowship is very well deserved.
