Primary School Essay Competition
Here might be a future JK Rowling, or Charles Dickens, or Michael Morpurgo!
Young Essay Writer Challenge
This challenge is for students in Year 6 at the local Primary Schools. They are set an essay title (which varies from year to year) and are limited to two sides of A4 paper. The essays are marked by Rotarians who are looking for originality, structure, interest and enthusiasm, and an ability to use the language soundly.
The winners are presented with Amazon vouchers and certificates, and the school receives £50 towards its funds and an engraved trophy to keep for a year.
Another magnificent Rotary Youth Project.
Pictured are the 2019 1st and 2nd prize winners (from Cuthbert Mayne Primary) of the Young Essay Competition which is run annually by our club for local primary schools. They were well deserving winners; their essays and the other 200 entrants were on the subject of “If I could make the world a better place”.
