Presentation to Disability Sport Fife

Tue, Mar 15th 2016 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Kilrymont St. Andrews Rotarians handed over cheques to physically-impaired bowler Michael Simpson and Disability Sport Fife president Richard Brickley at the club's weekly meeting.
Michael, a double leg amputee who has competed for Scotland at the Commonweath Games and who won silver at a world event in New Zealand in 2015, received the Rotary club's trophy for his endeavours.
The Auchtermuchty and Strathmiglo bowler also received a £250 cheque to help towards his training as he targets a place in the team for the games in Gold Coast, Australia, in 2018.
Disability Sport Fife has received support from Kilrymont Rotarians for 19 years and Richard Brickley was given a £750 cheque to help the kingdom's athletes.

A friendship award was also presented by the club to Margaret McQueen for her support. Margaret has provided her famed clootie dumplings at the club's Kingsbarns golf day for many years and golfers from throughout the UK have enjoyed the mid-round snack treat.

Area 6 assistant governor Malcolm Horner also spoke about the ongoing crisis in recruiting members to the Rotary movement. He outlined initiatives including proposals for stand-alone satellite clubs comprising people from younger age groups.
Last weekend's charity collection at Morrisons store raised £730. Thanks are due to the store for providing facilities.
Members helped Kingsbarns Primary pupils with a beach clean-up this week.
