Rotary Walk

THURSDAY 16 JUNE 2016

From The Red Lion

Welford Road, Thornby NN6 8SJ

01604 740238

The walk (be there at 10.15 for 10.30) will not be circular but “in out”, along  a little used byway. Quite scenic and very clean under foot.  No styles, ideal if wet, and no more than 3.5 miles.

Another "In Out" Situation - Walk Report

The village of Thornby has a number of footpaths but they do not lend themselves to circular walks.   In fact the village walking group recently arranged to be collected by trailer by a local friendly farmer and returned to base.   It is for this reason that an “in and out” walk was organized.   This format had an advantage allowing coffee to be provided en-route, which was a pleasant surprise to the 8 walkers involved.

Having been leaned on heavily by Herr Commandant Peter Newham the walk leader Peter Davies submitted a comprehensive Risk Assessment, which was delivered to all walkers; luckily none of the perceived risks were encountered.

Although rain was falling all around us we were allowed to walk in the dry and given an opportunity to view the England countryside, we all know and love, at its best - and to discuss the very  topical ‘ Brexit ‘ issue !

Three non–walkers joined us at the Red Lion pub at Thornby, which lived up to its growing reputation and ended an easy and enjoyable morning walk.
