Information Evening

An information evening for potential new members was a great success!

An information evening for potential new members was a great success!

The event in the Apex Hotel - the first of its kind held by the club - was organised by the membership committee. Fifty invitations were issued to people with a record of supporting club events including the charity dinner and the Oktoberfest. Twenty-five people attended - a positive response.

They heard from club president David Laing on the activities of the Dundee club and viewed a short film on the wider work of Rotary. Rotarian Brett David, manager of the Apex Hotel, spoke on how much he has enjoyed the club since joining and how it helped him to settle in the city and make friends. He also said he commended the ethos of Rotary - and its motto of service above self - to his staff at the hotel, and encouraged them to follow its values. The club hopes that some of people who attended to find out about Rotary will convert their interest to membership.
Membership committee chairman Jim Pickett said: "We are hoping that this is the first successful step on our journey to increase the membership of our 95 year old club.

"All our guests who came along felt very relaxed and enjoyed their engagement with the 17 Rotarians who attended too."
