Exciting Environmental Project for Schools

Mon, Dec 2nd 2019 at 2:00 pm- Fri, Jan 31st 2020 - 11:00 pm

We are organising this project to introduce young children to the 3Rs - Reduce waste, Reuse resources and Recycle materials.

Environmental Project for Schools

Using "Junk Modelling" materials, which are often part of the curriculum

For children in years KS1 or KS2

This picture shows an example constructed from recycled materials. The centre and top are made from a carboard tube, the engines are plastic water bottles filled with plastic bags and it is all held together with elastic bands. The silver covering is aluminium foil and the paint used is children’s colouring.

Individual children are asked to design and build anything using only items from their recycled waste bin.

The items should not be bigger than 40cm by 40cm by 60cm high.

When joining and painting the item, thought should be given to the environment.

The school will judge which they believe is the best by the end of the spring term.  The winning item will then go forward to be judged against other schools in the town.  These will be displayed in the Grosvenor Centre and members of the public will vote for the winner in March 2020.

The winning school will be awarded £100
