Paul Simpson's Memorial Fund Update

Many will recall that in September 2020, Paul Simpson (a past President of the Club) was tragically killed whilst undertaking a sponsored walk of Offa's Dyke in aid of Northampton Food Banks

Paul had set a target on his TotalGiving Fundraising Page of £1,000 in the hope that it would help the people of Northampton.

Following Paul’s death funds flowed into the Page from people who knew and loved Paul and those who did not know him but wanted to support his cause.   Rotary Becket President, Peter Brearley, has this week announced that over £10,000 has been received by the Club’s Charity from the appeal.

Peter added “As a Barclays Bank Pensioner, Paul had requested matched funding for his sponsored walk, and I am pleased to say that the bank have honoured this by matching all funds donated in Paul’s name”

“It is now the responsibility of the Club to ensure that the funds received are spent exactly as Paul intended and that not a penny is wasted. The Club will continue to supply food through the Christmas period and into the New Year through the generosity of so many people who contributed in Paul’s memory.”
