A special Covid-19 grant from The Rotary Foundation has allowed clubs in the District to supply Kindle Fire Tablets to day centres, care homes and hospitals in their locality who deal with dementia patients. Through this initiative, The Rotary Club of Edinburgh has provided five Edinburgh Care Homes with a Tablet for use by their residents.
With guidance, cognitively impaired residents can quite quickly master the technology of down-loaded music, games, puzzles and painting apps. The tablets can also be used for residents to be in daily contact with their families thus alleviating loneliness and isolation.
