Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Dundee in this our centenary year.

It is an honour for me to be President in 2021-22 as we celebrate our Century of Service.

It is with great pride that I reflect on the past work and performance of our club since it first met on May 19, 1921.

That started with giving financial support to Dundee boys whose fathers had perished in the Great War. We also organised picnics for young invalids and supported children at Dundee Orphanage.

It is with considerable satisfaction that I regard our achievements in the present, our ability to maintain the club and its admirable record of charitable work throughout the severe restrictions of the pandemic.

We have been able to hold meetings only by using the video conferencing app Zoom, a medium our founding fathers would never have been able to comprehend.

Over the last year we have been able to disburse thousands of pounds to Dundee organisations dealing with the impact of Covid.

Even more impressively we have donated £100,000 to a range of ventures in health and education to mark our centenary. You can find details about our Centenary Project HERE on our website.

Now we must look ahead and to the challenges we must overcome if the club is to have as bright a future as it has had a proud past.

We have to continue to support those in need in our communities, not just in our home city but also nationally and internationally.

We must re-ignite our fundraising activities and volunteer programmes to meet these commitments.

As a club we must also recruit more members so that there are new people with new ideas to drive our club into the next century

We’ve come a long way and lived through many changes over the last ten decades.

What has remained and will always be at the heart of our activities is our commitment to helping the people of Dundee and our adherence to the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.

And let’s not forget the fellowship and fun, vital aspects that make Rotary enjoyable as well as worthwhile to belong to.

As we head into our second century, we face the future with pride and confidence, and a determination to continue with our good work as the Rotary Club of Dundee.

Let that continue to guide and inspire us as we seek to give our club as bright a future as it has as proud a past.
