The Dunmow & Takeley Rotary Youth Speaks competition took place on Monday 28th November 2022. The event was held in Helena Romanes School, with five teams taking part from the School.

The Dunmow & Takeley Rotary Youth Speaks competition took place in Helena Romanes School with five teams taking part, all from Helena Romanes School.

There were two teams at the Intermediate level, who debated 'Animal testing' and 'The British Royal family is an institution not fit for the 21st Century - it's time for the King and the rest of them to go', respectively.

There were three teams at the Senior level debating 'Freedom of speech vs tolerance', Extreme protests' and Cancel culture', respectively.

A very well done to All the teams that took part.

The winning Intermediate team debated 'Animal testing' and the members were:

Ollie - Chairperson, Harry - Proposer and Fletcher - Opposer.

Certificates were presented to the Intermediate teams by Maureen Best, President of Takeley Rotary.

The winning Senior team debated 'Cancel Culture' and the members were:

Mia - Chairperson, Emma - Proposer and Mariana - Opposer.

Certificates were presented to the Senior teams by Colin Bradley, President of Dunmow Rotary.

The two winning teams will now go on to compete in the Rotary District 1240 competition to be held in the Chelmsford Council Chambers, County Hall, on 28th February 2023, starting at 5pm.

Community Service

The Community Service Committee is responsible for organising events to give direct service to the community OR to raise funds for community groups and charities. Examples include: Father Christmas collections & Community Concerts.

The Rotary Club of Dunmow celebrated it's 75th anniversary, of being chartered, with a 'Black Tie' dinner.

Regional Youth Speaks Final was held in the Chiltern Academy, Luton, on Saturday 23rd March 2024.

Through the Rotary Club of Dunmow - Collinson Legacy Fund, we have been able to provide Helena Romanes School, Dunmow, with a number of new musical instruments.

The Rotary Club of Dunmow received it's Charter as a Club on 9th February 1949.

District Young Musician Final was held in Brentwood Cathedral on Saturday 2nd March 2024.

The Membership Service Committee looks after the welfare of members and recruitment of new members. Committee Chair: Barry Clark.

The international Service Committee is responsible for our international service, including raising funds for International Charities and Foundation. It organises member's visits and exchange programmes.
